Currently Organic Bean and Grain has two main locatons. Our headquarters is still operated from the original location in Caro Michigan. We also have a cleaning facility a half hour drive away in Munger.
Organic Bean and Grain opened our main facility with the creation of the company in 1998. In addition to cleaning and storage facilities, Caro is also the home of our main office building.
This facility consists of two grain cleaning lines. One line is dedicated to spelt dehulling and clean with dehullers, debearder, aspiration, screen cleaner, destoner and gravity table with approximately 2,000 lbs per hour capacity. The second line consists of a screen cleaner, aspiration, destoner, and gravity table with approximately 16,500 lbs per hour capacity. Product can be shipped bulk, in 1 to 2 ton tote bags or bagged from 25 lbs to 100 lbs. This site has 30,000 bushels of storage, including several small hopper tanks and an additional 120,000 bushels of near by off site storage. We also have access to an off site rail siding to ship or receive product. Corn, drybeans, oats, rye, spelt, wheat and all of the seed are stored and conditioned at our Caro facilities.
Organic Bean and Grain purchased the Munger facility in 2004 to meet the growing organic production in the surrounding area. We moved all soybean conditioning except seed and most of the soybean storage from Caro to Munger after preparing this facility for organic food grade handling.
This facility consists of two pre-cleaning screens and one finish cleaning line. All of the soybeans are pre-screened upon delivery before going to storage. This site has 132,000 bushels of storage. The cleaning includes a destoner, aspiration, and gravity table with approximately 12,000 lbs per hour of capacity. Product can be shipped bulk, in 1 to 2 ton tote bags or bagged from 25 lbs to 100 lbs.
